Bravo, Columbus! Outdoor Pickleball at Olentangy Park in Worthington, Ohio!
Thirty short days ago, my wife and I were in Columbus, Ohio on business, and, as we finished up meetings in the early afternoon, we ventured out looking for some permanent, dedicated outdoor pickleball courts. We didn’t find any. Zero. None. None in Columbus. None in Westerville. None in Worthington. And that was a shame. Sure there were venues that shared their courts — but that meant setting up your own portable net and playing on a court not designed specifically for pickleball.
There was also a venue (Hoff Park) in which it appeared to be potentially in the beginning stages of building new courts — although the project looked stalled before it even began.
In greater Cincinnati, we are blessed to have several outdoor pickleball venues. With tremendous talent in-and-around Columbus, however, they did not even have a permanent home for pickleball — that is, until today.

The park just completed converting 2 tennis courts (see “before” picture below) to 6 beautiful pickleball courts — with lights (see “after” picture below)!

I saw your info today on Pickleball at Olentangy Park. I used to be the Worthington Pickleball Director and was involved in helping to get the new Pickleball complex built, and I agree with you, it’s the best in Central OH currently. I also am the first USAPA Pickleball Ambassador in all of Central Ohio as of 2009. I work part time at Dick’s Sporting Goods(10 years), and it took me 3 years to get P’ball equipment into Dick’s. I enjoy promoting and selling P’ball equip. every week. We have a P’ball event at the Ohio State Fair coming up in a few weeks. I used to be the Co-Director of 2 Christian Singles Outreach programs at a local church, so we have a lot to talk about. I look forward to talking with you soon!
Hi Bob, Thanks so much for chiming in. Thanks for all you do. Look forward to meeting you soon.
