10 Dedicated Indoor Pickleball Courts that will Turn you Green with Envy
At last. With dedicated, outdoor pickleball courts sprouting up in smaller cities and villages around the country, we are also beginning to see indoor pickleball courts become just a little more plentiful.
While we are certainly grateful for those YMCAs, Community Centers – and even tennis centers – that have embraced pickleball with temporary lines and portable nets, nothing beats playing in a dedicated, indoor facility when the weather outside is uncooperative.
And, just in case you were wondering, indoor pickleball court dimensions are the same as outdoor courts.
Top 10 Dedicated Indoor Pickleball Courts
The following is a roundup of ten venues with dedicated, pickleball indoor courts that any pickleball addict should put a high priority on visiting:
1. Chicken n Pickle
Chicken n Pickle may very well be the first instance (of many) in which the business model successfully blended pickleball with casual dining. Chicken N Pickle is an “entertainment complex including a fast-casual dining restaurant, several outdoor and indoor pickleball courts, a bar and entertainment space, food trucks, outdoor lawn games like ping pong and Jenga, and a living room with fire pits and TV screens for you and your friends to catch your favorite game.”
Chicken n Pickle opened its first location in North Kansas City, MO, in July 2016. Since then, they have opened additional locations throughout the United States.
2. Smash Park
Smash Park – with locations in West Des Moines, IA, Roseville, MN, La Vista, NE, and Westerville, OH – has a similar concept to that of Chicken N Pickle. Smash Park is a social entertainment venue featuring casual dining, an indoor deck with a full bar, outdoor fire pits, and shaded beer gardens – and, of course, outdoor and indoor pickleball courts. In addition, Smash Park also includes shuffleboard, bocce ball, ping pong, cornhole, and a variety of other yard games.
3. House of Pickleball
Located in Leland, North Carolina (just across the bridge from Wilmington), House of Pickleball is a pickleball-only facility that features 6 dedicated, indoor climate-controlled pickleball courts. The HOP, which opened in July 2018, offers drop-in play, round-robins, socials, tournaments, instructions, and much more. It also features a viewing area, a pro shop, a ball machine for rent, and beer, wine, cider, and snacks for sale.
4. Missouri Pickleball Club
MPC Fenton boasts 18 indoor courts, including 5 championship courts in a 51,000 square foot facility. Between their 3 venues, they offer 35 courts, 22 championship courts, and 2 dink courts.
5. Pickleball Kingdom
Located in Chandler, AZ, Pickleball Kingdom – and its 15 indoor courts – has the following amenities: tournaments, leagues, daily drop-in play, lessons, snack bar, pro shop, mezzanine viewing area, and locker rooms with showers, and of course, the perfect temperature throughout!
The Pickleball Kingdom franchise has grown over the years and currently has numerous locations throughout the United States.
6. Espire Sports
Espire Sports is a premier pickleball and multi-sport complex located in the Prescott Gateway Mall in Prescott, Arizona. I love it – repurposing a mall! The complex includes indoor pickleball (14 dedicated indoor courts), yard games, an arcade, bocce ball, cornhole, ping-pong, billiards, a fitness center, and locker rooms with showers. Espire Sports also has Golf simulators, a 9-hole putting green, pro-shop, cafe and juice bar.
7. Pickle & Chill
Pickle & Chill is located in Columbus, Ohio, and has played host to multiple Major League Pickleball tournaments. Pickle & Chill officially opened to the public in November 2022. They have 12 dedicated indoor courts and 10 dedicated outdoor courts. Pickle & Chill has a food and beverage lounge, special event space, and extensive programming.
8. Match Point
Located in Columbus, OH, Match Point is one of the largest indoor venues in the country with 38 dedicated courts. They offer 4 different sports at their facility.
9. Pickleball Zone
Located in Bend, Oregon, Pickleball Zone opened in October 2018. The 55,000 square foot facility hosts Trampoline Zone & Adventure Park on the ground floor and 8 dedicated pickleball courts on the 3rd floor. The Head Players Lounge on the fourth floor and observation balconies provide a great viewing experience for those not on the courts. The business model for the Pickleball Zone includes memberships and individual court rental, lessons, clinics, camps, round robins, challenge play, tournaments, and mixers.
10. Pickleball Island
With 10 courts, a pro shop, and a lounge, Pickleball Island of Grand Island, NY is the largest dedicated indoor pickleball facility in New York. Pickleball Island offers open play, leagues, court rental, lessons, clinics, and three tournaments a year.
Final Thoughts
Investment in venues with dedicated, pickleball indoor courts is seemingly just beginning. Just a few short years ago, there were very few venues that made this list. Now, I had to leave many good ones off.

I am sorry to report that Pickleball Station in Kent, Washington closed permanently on March 12, 2020. The closure was announced in early February. It was not due to failure, but rather to the outstanding success of Pickleball Central, with which it shared space.

Our mission statement [Council Bluffs Area Pickleball], contained in our bylaws is:
“To provide a fun, healthy, recreational activity for all members and guests, through a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.”
We offer reservations and have open play as well. Men’s & Women’s round robin weekly & free lessons every Tuesday afternoon.
Open seven days a week five dollars members for three hours of play, $7.50 non members. A special thanks to the Iowa West foundation for funding this facility, truly a community asset.
